Beginnings of our Garden

The kids stand protectively by the little herb garden we planted.
Leslie in the sunset.
These are the decorative plants we got, Barbara Karst and purple Bouganvillas and white and pink oleanders. Once established, you only have to water these plants about once a month. I love Arizona plants!
It took us an hour's work with shovel, hose and pickaxe to get far enough through the caliche (the clay substance under the soil that is as hard as cement) to plant these little trees. We planted Arizona sweet orange, tangerine, Marsh and Ruby Red grapefruit, and Lisbon Lemons. Hope they all stay alive.

Faces of Sabrina

Debilore needed a close up head shot of Sabrina. Here's the best I got.

Tooth Fairy Booty

When told the Tooth Fairy would bring her money, Leslie asked if she could bring her something else instead. "Can the Tooth Fairy bring me flowers, like the ones we gave to that lady we didn't buy the house from?" (We gave flowers to the agent for the home we ended up not buying, because she was so helpful to us.) Although her mommy said the Tooth Fairy probably wasn't up for bringing flowers, the Tooth Fairy found a lovely bouquet on sale at the grocery store that night, so Leslie received flowers. Leslie wrote a nice note thanking the Tooth Fairy for the flowers, and asked for money next time. :)

A great day

Today Leslie lost her first tooth, and Sabrina wore panties and stayed dry (only one accident) all day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!! We are so proud of both of them.

The first resident of our home

Yes, it's dead. :)
This was under our air conditioner. We sure love living in Airzona! :)
(Sabrina is morbidly fascinated by this. I keep it in the garage on a piece of cardboard, and several times a day Sabrina goes out there for a little scorpion viewing. We were singing "Pop Goes the Weasel," and Sabrina sang, "Pop goes the scorpion!")

Take her to the emergency room!

Here is Sabrina energetically dancing on the evening after the extremely unhelpful pediatric clinic told me she needed to be taken to the emergency room. She was breathing, walking, and talking--we just wanted to have her checked, as she had a febrile seizure during the night. We are so blessed that she is alright!

Billy Goat Artist

Leslie wrote a story, complete with pictorial representation, about the three billy goats gruff, and she elaborately presented it to me with Sabrina's help. It had a surprise compassionate ending for the much-maligned troll.
(In case you're wondering, Leslie is wearing a swimsuit, her regular Arizona at-home attire, in this picture.)

Tooth fairy!

Today Leslie lost her first tooth. Here she is when it first became loose, back at the beginning of September.

Visitors

Robin, Bill & Preston came to see our new house.

Montezuma's Castle

This is a diarama of the inside of the castle.
Here's a picture we took looking up at it. Looks like a great place to live--but around 1450, they all left. No one knows why.

Giraffe kisses

Preston could've won $5 for doing this, but apparently the giraffe wasn't up for kissing anyone but the tour guide.

Out for our blood

The tigers seemed friendly enough, but not the hyena. It made an ominous growling sound and watched our every move.
